  • 1 tsp baking powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with milk, and mix until smooth.
  7. Pour the batter into cupcake liners, filling each about 2/3 full.
  8. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  9. Let cool completely before frosting.

Notes

  • For a lemon flavor, add 1 tablespoon of lemon zest to the batter.
