- 1 loaf bread, preferably stale or day-old
- 1 cup pumpkin puree
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
