  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a cake pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients and milk, alternating between the two, until smooth.
  6. Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan, then stir in additional cocoa powder to the remaining batter and pour it over the first layer.
  7. Use a knife to swirl the two batters together.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Allow to cool before serving.
