  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 egg yolk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the sugar and butter until light and fluffy.
  3. Add in the eggs and vanilla, mixing until well combined.
  4. In another bowl, mix together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. In a separate bowl, beat together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and egg yolk until smooth.
  7. Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared pan, followed by dollops of the cream cheese mixture.
  8. Spoon the remaining brownie batter on top and swirl with a knife.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Allow to cool before cutting into squares and serving.

Notes

  • For best results, use room temperature ingredients.
  • These brownies are even better the next day after the flavors have melded.
