- 300 ml boiling water
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 100 grams unsalted butter
- 150 grams brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 200 grams all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a baking dish.
- In a bowl, combine the chopped dates and boiling water. Stir in baking soda and let it sit.
- In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until fluffy.
- Add eggs and vanilla extract to the butter mixture, then mix well.
- Fold in the date mixture.
- Combine flour, baking powder, and salt, then fold gently into the wet ingredients.
