  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, spices, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the butter and brown sugar until creamy.
  4. Add the molasses, egg, and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until a dough forms.
  6. Roll the dough into small balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the centers are still chewy.
  8. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

  • For extra texture, you can add chopped nuts or chocolate chips to the dough.
