  • 1 loaf challah bread
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (for topping)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  2. Cut the challah bread into thick slices and place them in a single layer in a baking dish.
  3. Pour the egg mixture over the bread slices, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight.
  4. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the French toast for 30-35 minutes, until golden and set.
  5. Sprinkle the brown sugar evenly over the top of the French toast and use a torch to caramelize the sugar until it forms a crispy crust.
