Crispy Mini Blooming Onions

Deliciously crispy and easy to make, these mini blooming onions are the perfect gourmet snack.

Ingredients

  • 4 mini onions
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Slice the tops off the mini onions and peel them.
  2. Soak the onions in cold water for 30 minutes.
  3. In a bowl, mix the flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. In a separate bowl, beat the egg.
  5. Dip each onion in the flour mixture, then in the egg, and then in the breadcrumbs.
  6. Heat the oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Fry the onions until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
  8. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add cayenne pepper to the flour mixture.
