Crème Brûlée French Toast: The Indulgent Morning Delight

Crème Brûlée French Toast

A luscious twist on a classic breakfast dish, Crème Brûlée French Toast combines the creamy, caramelized flavors of crème brûlée with the comforting familiarity of French toast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 slices of brioche bread
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, for greasing
  • 1/4 cup additional sugar, for caramelizing

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, milk, eggs, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
  2. Arrange the brioche slices in a greased baking dish and pour the egg mixture over them. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  3. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the French toast for 30-35 minutes until golden and puffed.
  4. Sprinkle the top with additional sugar and use a kitchen torch to caramelize the sugar until golden and crispy.
  5. Serve warm, optionally with fresh berries and whipped cream.

Notes

  • For best results, use day-old brioche for extra texture.
  • Ensure the cream mixture is well combined for an even custard.
