  • 4 slices brioche bread
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup turbinado sugar (for topping)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, eggs, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
  2. Dip each slice of brioche in the mixture, ensuring both sides are coated. Let it soak for a minute.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a little butter. Cook each slice until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  4. Once cooked, place the French toast on a baking sheet and sprinkle with turbinado sugar.
  5. Using a kitchen torch, caramelize the sugar until it forms a crispy crust. If you don’t have a torch, broil it in the oven for a couple of minutes.
  6. Serve immediately, garnished with fresh berries and whipped cream if desired.

Notes

  • For an even richer flavor, use flavored cream or infused milk alternatives.
  • Make sure to caramelize the sugar just before serving for the best texture.
