- 4 slices brioche bread
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 4 large eggs
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup turbinado sugar (for topping)
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, eggs, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
- Dip each slice of brioche in the mixture, ensuring both sides are coated. Let it soak for a minute.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a little butter. Cook each slice until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Once cooked, place the French toast on a baking sheet and sprinkle with turbinado sugar.
- Using a kitchen torch, caramelize the sugar until it forms a crispy crust. If you don’t have a torch, broil it in the oven for a couple of minutes.
- Serve immediately, garnished with fresh berries and whipped cream if desired.
Notes
- For an even richer flavor, use flavored cream or infused milk alternatives.
- Make sure to caramelize the sugar just before serving for the best texture.
