Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 can (12 ounces) evaporated milk
  • 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons chocolate shavings for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In one bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs and vanilla and mix well.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. In a separate bowl, whisk together the evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, and whole milk.
  7. Once the cake has cooled, poke holes all over the top with a fork and slowly pour the milk mixture over the cake.
  8. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  9. Before serving, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form and spread it over the top of the cake.
  10. Garnish with chocolate shavings.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, let the cake soak overnight.
  • Serve chilled for the best taste.
