Chai Cinnamon Rolls

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/2 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk and yeast, let it stand for 5 minutes.
  2. Add sugar, butter, eggs, and spices. Mix well.
  3. Gradually add flour and salt. Knead the dough until smooth.
  4. Let dough rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  5. Roll out dough into a rectangle, spread butter, and sprinkle cinnamon mix.
  6. Roll up the rectangle and cut into slices.
  7. Place in greased baking dish and let rise again for 30 minutes.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes.
  9. Mix powdered sugar and milk to make glaze and drizzle over rolls.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, consider adding raisins or nuts to the filling.
  • These rolls can be frozen after baking; reheat in the oven.
