  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup crushed vanilla wafers

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine milk, cream, sugar, cornstarch, and salt. Whisk until smooth.
  2. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly until it thickens.
  3. Whisk egg yolks in a bowl, then gradually add some of the hot mixture to temper the yolks.
  4. Return the mixture to the saucepan, add vanilla extract, and cook for another minute.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  6. Layer the banana slices and vanilla wafers in a serving dish, then pour the pudding mixture over.
  7. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours before serving.
